About TASMAI

TASMAI, a Centre for Art & Culture is firstly a platform for contemporary visual art in Pondicherry. It hopes to connect with the art happenings around India, and become a bridge connecting Pondicherry with the world through art and culture understood in the widest and deepest sense.

The centre comprises of on the ground floor of:

A gallery with floor space of size 375 sq. ft and wall space of 43 running ft. with a ceiling of 17 ft height.

An office space of size 140 sq. ft with a ceiling of 14 ft height.

A garage space of size 168 sq. ft which is right at the entrance and allows a good spill over for workshops.

A corner devoted to artifacts crafted by artists and art related stationeries.

On the mezzanine we have:

A small gallery with floor space of size 135 sq. ft and wall space of 20 running ft. with a ceiling of 8 ft height which overlooks the large gallery below.

A meeting room of size 140 sq. ft with a ceiling of 8 ft height, with a screen allowing power point presentations, and a corner having a good collection of art books, catalogues and CDs for reference.

There is good ventilation, natural lighting and an inclusion of nature and art in the construction itself which opens into beautiful views, enlivens the space and uplifts the aesthetic sense, making it a truly unique architectural experience and wonder.
